"urge to kill ... rising ... "

17 December 2002

Busy, bizarre day today. (And yes, I’m well aware that I’m posting at an unearthly hour.)

Went to a private showing of The Two Towers last night, thanks to my having dated the manager of the movie theater back during our college years. Unfortunately, my sleepy little college town isn’t blessed with a big screen or fantastic sound, so I will be going to the 11 AM showing at Opry Mills this morning, where hopefully there will be hordes of fellow LOTR lovers and a sufficient DTS setup.

Yes, Opry Mills is in Nashville, a leisurely two-hour drive from Chattanooga. My parents are flying in for the MacGillicuddy‘s graduation weekend and I am doing my proper sisterly duties by picking them up from the airport. They’ll be staying over until Monday, when the four of us will be flying back to Texas for the holidays.

Needless to say, this has caused no small amount of consternation. By that, I mean I’ve mopped my kitchen floor no less than three times since the weekend and rearranged my cupboards twice. Oh, and I’ve had to vet the place for all contraband and potential argument-starters. Because as much as I love my parents, the best thing to happen to our relationship was my leaving their sphere of influence.

I have had an unhealthy amount of sleep all week long (read: four hours or so) and really should try to catch forty winks before I drive all over creation. Time to put some teaspoons in the freezer and get some zzzz’s.
