vivir sin aire

4 March 2003

Being that I faithfully read R.S., it was interesting when he finally put his foot down and told J.D.C. exactly what he thought of her. And it’s sad, because we’ve both done our best to be nice to her, but she’s got such a terrible attitude towards everything that it’s hard to remain sympathetic. Or, as K.M. once remarked with barely disguised sarcasm, “Did someone call the whaaaaambulance?”

She tries, I know, to act as if she’s above the very same behavior she exhibits, but at best it’s a shallow disguise. I think that she’s one of the people who can’t accept that the reason they despise others is because they really dislike themselves. And it’s much easier for them to point out the mote of dust in other people’s eyes, all the while forgetting the plank in their own. (Apologies to the Gospel of Luke for that shameless plagiarization.)

Come to think of it, after sorting through the detritus of what SpamAssassin left behind, the writer of an e-mail message sent to me yesterday would probably fit all the above beautifully.

And on that same tangent, Steven and I were laughing over another of our acquaintances making a certified jackass of himself in public
