wine + market

2 April 2008

Coming soon to Jefferson and SecondIn my daily walks all around Lexington’s Historic Western Suburb neighborhood, I was pleasantly surprised to find this sign pop up in the building that used to house Earlene Huckleberry’s vintage furniture store and Many Moons. Sadly, the day they opened was when Bryce had his photography show at Capitol Cellars, so when Alison called to invite us to the wine tasting, I had to take a rain check.

The day after, however, was the Obama swag sale at Third Street Stuff, where by chance, we bumped into Alison and Allan. After picking up lapel pins, buttons, and a random piece of art, we decided to make a stop at the newly-opened WINE + MARKET.

Klum, the proprietor, complimented me on my boots—I had just thrown on black galoshes out of sheer laziness—and we picked up a bottle of champagne and a pinot noir, which fit nicely in my new Ibiza flight tote for the quick walk back to Opera House Square. With the grocery portion opening up later in May, which is when our first Elmwood Farms CSA box should arrive, living in downtown Lexington should get a little more urbane.
